Receiving Advice

  • Will the therapist tell me what to do?
  • Will I have to listen and answer what the therapist “wants to hear"?
  • Is the therapist going to tell me how to live my life?

Show Answer

Making a commitment to attend therapy is your choice. For whatever reasons you are deciding to seek counselling/therapy, ultimately you are the one who gets to choose to make a change or not. Giving advice may provide some insights however, often times the results are not as meaningful or powerful compared to the guidance that you can give to yourself. The idea behind therapy is that you will be guided through a process where you are able to enhance or learn new techniques that will enable you to solve challenges using methods that work best for your comfort levels.

I don't want to hear anything that you don't feel or think. I help to encourage you to re-connect with your own unique internal wisdom and inner voice. You have the ability to heal, grow, change and become the person you’ve always dreamed of being. Nothing is impossbile.

Opening Up Emotionally

  • Will I feel obligated to tell my therapist everything, even if I don’t want to?
  • Does attending therapy mean that I have to share my thoughts and feelings?

Show Answer

Building a "therapist/client" relationship can take time. The more comfortable you feel with your therapist, the easier it will be for you to open up and share your thoughts and feelings. Acquiring trust is something that I fully understand and will not force you to share your thoughts and feelings...

  • Is Counselling Going to Change Who I am?
  • Do I have to change how I live my life?

Show Answer

Counselling is not about changing who you are. It’s about creating an environment where you can gain clear perspectives on your situation/life. I choose this profession to help people explore new ways and possibilies that work best for them. When working with the right therapist in a non-judgmental environment, you are given the chance to speak about whatever is on your mind. If you happen to change aspects of your personality during the process, it will undoubtedly be a change that you choose to make, and not your therapist!

Spending Money

  • Will counselling fit into my budget?
  • Am I going to have enough?

Show Answer

Often times, not having enough money seems be the topic that gets people worrying and stressing. It’s not un-common to have these thoughts in your mind however; it’s about how often or how many times a day do you find yourself thinking about the lack of money. Is it keeping you up late at night? Do you often think over and over about it? Money is needed to pay bills, rent or mortgage and can often play a huge role in your daily life. Therapy sessions are not expensive in comparison to the rewards they can provide. Is there truly a price for your peace and happiness?

How Will Talking to a Therapist Help Me?

  • What should I expect from therapy?
  • Why should I see a therapist?
  • What will a therapist do?

Show Answer

I offer an initial phone consultation to gain an understanding to your needs in attending therapy. If you feel that I am a good fit for you, an in-office appointment will be set-up to further discuss options that will best fit your life style and financial budget. My approach to is to "speak in confidence with an objective person outside of your day-to-day environment, who can provide undivided attention to whatever is troubling you".

"Why should I see a therapist?" You’re the only one who can answer that question. Whether experiencing depression/anxiety or a loss within yourself, lacking motivation, strength or power, it is ultimately your decision whether or not to seek guidance from a therapist. Besides "talking", My practice goes beyond talk therapy. I will also work with you on a experiential level using tools such as: Guided Meditation, Inner Child Dialogue, Subpersonality exercises, all to aid in releasing thoughts and emotions that stand in your way of self-discovery and happiness.
